About Scott Boswell

Filmmaker & Educator

Scott Boswell is a filmmaker and film instructor who has completed numerous shorts and two feature films – A Wake (2019) and The Stranger in Us (2010).  His films are in distribution internationally and have won awards from multiple film festivals including Seattle International, Big Apple, Chicago Reeling, Mardi Gras, and Pikes Peak. At present, he is working on a documentary series about homeless queer youth in San Francisco.  


Previously Scott ran The Factory, an Oakland-based filmmaking collective for urban teenagers. Films produced by The Factory have won numerous awards, including a regional Emmy, and screened at prestigious film festivals, including San Francisco International and The Hamptons. Currently he is an assistant professor and the Fiction Filmmaking Coordinator in the School of Cinema where he teaches classes in film production, directing, and screenwriting.  In his spare time, Scott runs a feature screenwriting group and directs plays with local theatre companies in San Francisco.
